Jerry Reese / Husqvarna Viking National Education Specialist / Sew Viking Continued

Late in 2002, I walked by a sewing machine creating an embroidery wonder ‘all by itself’. The rest is history. I carted up my first Designer 1 and headed home. I then delved into learning this wonder machine and willingly gave up sleeping and eating so I could dedicate my soul to my new sewing machine. Shortly after the purchase of my Designer 1, I got into the software that came with it and learned that my computer skills would definitely help me learn this new software. That led to upgrading to the ‘3D Professional’ version and becoming totally independent in using my computer skills for an art-form rather than creating systems for corporations. Four plus years later, I achieved my goal of retirement and moved to Iowa, hoping to get snowed in for long periods of time so I could create, create, create. Soon after moving, I added a second Designer 1 to my sewing studio, then a Mega Quilter, a Huskylock 936 and eventually the ultimate sewing machine, the Designer SE. I then began working by helping out at my local Husqvarna Viking retail store as a sales representative, sharing my love with others by teaching and selling through their software club, embroidery club and other classes and events or just as a result of their visits to the store. This gave me an outlet for sharing my enthusiasm and desire to help others learn this new art-form and stress reliever. The bonus for me was watching the customer marvel at the ease and perfection they can achieve so easily or the freedom they have in creating a ‘one-of-a-kind’ design, quilt, home decorator accessory or garment using the embroidery software or automated features of their sewing machines.

My passion has now come full circle. I have joined the Husqvarna Viking National Educator’s team as a Sales and Education Specialist. I have the fun job of traveling nation-wide, meeting fellow enthusiasts, teaching them to use their wonderful sewing machines and all of the special sewing machine features and last but not least, learning to create their own custom embroidery designs through the latest and greatest ‘4D Embroidery’ software.
