Hoffman Challenge photoHoffman Fabrics Challenge: 2008 Quilts
Every year, a team from Hoffman Fabrics chooses an upcoming fabric design, and then issues a challenge to quilt, clothing, accessory, and doll makers to create original items using the fabric. The challenge curator and a group of assistants jury the entries, and then a team of judges selects the award winners.

The juried collections then travel to be exhibited by quilt and other fiber guilds, shops, museums, and textile shows. The exhibitions are displayed and enjoyed in several hundred locations across the US and Canada.

Noble Seasons photoNoble Seasons 2009: Springing Forward
There are four seasons, four life stages, and four points on the compass used to orient ourselves. As four different themes, “Spring”, “Summer”, “Fall” and “Winter” are now being explored by the same group of nationally known quilt artists who in recent years brought you Noble Elements.

What is “spring”? Is it just that time between the vernal equinox and summer solstice, as the scientists say? . . . or something much, much more! Spring is renewal; everywhere, new life is being born. As the weather warms, our hearts grow light, and the rains fall––it is in fact the warming that causes rambunctious new growth to ‘spring forth,’ giving this season its name.

In “Springing Forward” we present our personal interpretations of the sights and signs of this season. You’ll find these works to represent the diversity of thought, the breadth of style and exceptional quality that this group of artists brings to this wonderful, delightful, and sometimes full of the unexpected, seasons.

Back Road Journeys photoBack-Road Journeys by RavenSpeak Quilts
A love of the land sent quilt artist and author, Rose Hughes, on a path to free her and other fabric artists from the confining shapes of squares and blocks. From this journey her Fast-Piece Appliqué™ method was developed. Showcasing this method; Rose presents, Back-Road Journeys a collection of quilt art that expresses her love and appreciation of the natural beauty of the landscape. Through these pieces Rose communicates the enduring impact earth’s beauty can have in ones spiritual and every-day life. Her quilts capture the awe we all feel at the uplift and roll of hilly terrain, and transfers to us, a wondrous space filled with new possibilities.

Cloth Doll Exhibit photoCloth Doll Exhibit: River City Dollmakers
See a wonderfully diverse display of original cloth dolls and mixed media creations. The River City Dollmakers mission is to give everyone permission to play with contemporary art dolls.

Quilts on the Wall: Fiber Artists Unfettered Letters
Quilts on the Wall: Fiber Artists proudly presents a twenty-two piece collection of works entitled, Unfettered Letters.

Quilts on the Wall photoEach of these finished (38”h x 28”w) pieces in this challenge collection is an original design created by our artist members and represents their unique statement about ‘letters’. The concept of ‘letters and ‘words’ as symbols in art is intriguing, and the Quilts of the Wall: Fiber Artists decided to take a closer look at this thematically through our art.

Communication has been with us since the dawn of man. From the incredible cave drawings, to the formation of the written languages, to contemporary email we have had the need to visually express our ideas and ideals with others. Each artists’ interpretation of this idea and the fiber works presented here reaffirms our mission to encourage connection and cooperation among our members and inspire creative solutions to individual work. Each member is challenged to find her or his own voice and to live more courageously by expanding the boundaries of their art.

As they have since their inception in 1996, this talented group of evolving fiber artists continues to develop a considerable body of work that attests to their individual growth and we are delighted to have opportunities to share this exceptional collection with audiences nationwide.

Check back soon....we will be updating you with the featured educators, who will be there and classes available.
