The LoveQuilt Connection at the 2008 Cincinnati Original Creative Festival |
Attendees participated in the LoveQuilt™ Connection!
During the Festival, Community Quilt Connection Inc. (CQCI) hosted the LoveQuilt™ Connection, a charity event where show attendees sit and sew a seam for charity. CQCI used the 6-Hour Quilt by Kaye Wood, famous quilt teacher, author and hostess of TV’s Kaye’s Quilting Friends.
This special charity event was founded by Kaye in 1993. Explaining the LoveQuilt Connection, Kaye said, “If every one of the 22 million quilters made just one donation quilt, 22 million people who need a little extra love, would receive a quilt. That’s the idea behind the LoveQuilt Connection. People are invited to sit and sew some steps on 6-Hour Quilts, which are then donated to local charities, such as Ronald McDonald House, children’s hospitals, Operation Linus, Wounded Warriors, VA Hospitals, fire departments and police departments.”

A couture dressmaker and fabric store owner, Cynthia teaches techniques for beautifully fitted fashion forward clothing, often incorporating machine embroidery. Cynthia’s designs have been worn everywhere from the opening of the Met to Acapulco. Cynthia has developed effective, practical, and simple fitting and construction techniques that she teaches throughout the United States. Her sold-out sewing classes are filled with information that results in beautifully fitted, custom-look clothing.
Cynthia has a huge following of students that travel each year from all over the United States to spend time with her. Cynthia continues to inspire sewing enthusiasts around the world.
Cynthia offered an all day sewing class in Cincinnati, "Pants Fitting: From Start to Finished Pattern" cost including the kit fee was $160.00. The class began on Wednesday June 24th from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, with a (1) hour lunch break. Cynthia mailed workbooks with all the needed instructions for measuring your body, altering your pattern, and constructing a mock-up before coming to class. Cynthia was available to answer questions during this process by email. The workshop consisted of Cynthia personally fitting your mock-up and demonstrating how to transfer the adjustments to your pattern. Attendees left with a pattern ready to cut and sew.
The class was limited to 16 students.
The festival is a product and supply show for sew, quilt, needlearts, craft consumer.
This Expo was a perfect opportunity to learn a new skill or to simply sharpen an old one. Attendees could see first hand HOW-TO create a project uniquely theirs.
